THE LANGUAGE OF STARS

Back in January of 2016, 2 days before he passed, on the day of his birthday, David Bowie released his final album titled “Blackstar”.

The cover of the album featured a giant black star along with his last name stylized in pieces of broken black stars.
“The artwork for Blackstar was designed by Jonathan Barnbrook, who filled the same role on Heathen, Reality and The Next Day. The cover’s star image is credited to NASA in the CD booklet. The five star segments below the main star form the word BOWIE in stylised letters.” – Wikipedia

Since then, I’ve hoped that someone would finish the alphabet. I thought it was a great idea and it would be nice to see my name written that way. Sadly, they haven’t so I finally decided to take matters into my own hands.

Above is my version of the Black Star Alphabet based off that of the cover art. The B, O, W, I, and E are as they designed. The rest is my own imagination. I don’t have a great art program (I mainly used MS Paint for this) so it’s not perfect. If you’re someone with better art skills, feel free to revise this.

Again, all credit goes to those mentioned. I plan on getting my name tattooed like this on my arm as a tribute to David.
